The experience

The tour starts at Lopinot Plantation Estate, where you meet Mr. Martin Gomez, a local figure tied to the property's cocoa and coffee history. A cocoa dancing tour walks you through the plantation's working methods, followed by a bean-to-bar chocolate demonstration where you watch the process from fermented bean to finished bar. You can buy the estate's 65% dark chocolate, local fruits, spices, and nut cakes on-site, along with pieces made by Mr. Fullerton, a craftsperson who works there.

The second stop is the Cooper Estate, known for a 100-year-old tree, medicinal plants, spices, and native fauna. From there, the tour moves to the Heart Shape Cave, where you'll explore its chambers with headlights and touch lights provided. The cave system is the adventure centerpiece. Wear sneakers and light clothing, bring sunblock and insect repellent, and expect to move through tight spaces and uneven ground. A first aid kit travels with the group.

Hotel pickup and drop-off are included in the price. If your hotel is outside Port of Spain City, you'll pay an additional $30 to the driver. The guide speaks English and Spanish. Travel time between stops counts toward the 6.5-hour total, so plan accordingly if you have other activities scheduled that day.

Is this one for you?The 6.5-hour commitment means you'll have time for a meal or a second activity elsewhere in Trinidad the same day, but not both. Book this if you want a full immersion in one destination: the plantation, estate, and cave system are clustered, so the travel time between them is minimal and built into the duration.
