The Experience

The rock at Railay is all limestone, part of the world's largest coral reef stretching from China to Papua New Guinea. You'll spend the day on 700 graded and bolted routes that range across skill levels — whether you're a novice or an experienced climber, there's a line that fits. A professional and certified instructor leads the course, teaching top-rope climbing, bouldering and rappelling as you work through the day. The karst topography creates an otherworldly landscape: tall spires and exposed cliffs rise directly from the white sand, and you'll climb with the Andaman Sea in view.

Hotel pickup is included from Krabi Town, Ao Nang or Ao Nam Mao, and transport to Railay is by longtail boat — the peninsula has no road access. Once there, you'll move between climbing spots on the beach itself. The course runs nine hours, and afterward you can recover and relax on Railay's beaches (Pranang Cave and Tonsai Beach are nearby) before heading back to your hotel at your own pace. All climbing equipment is provided, along with drinking water, lunch and basic accident insurance.

Weather and sea conditions can affect the day's program, so the operator may adjust the itinerary. The course suits all fitness levels, though it's not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, pregnancy or poor cardiovascular health. Children from age 5 can join.
