The Experience

The speedboat leaves Pattaya's coast in the morning and takes you out to Koh Larn and Coral Island, where the water is clear enough to see the reef. Once there, you choose how to spend the day: ride a jet ski for a few minutes across the waves, get towed behind a banana boat, or strap into a parasail harness and rise above the island. Snorkeling happens at the same stops—the guide points out the fish and coral, and you stay in the water as long as you want. A sea walk lets you walk on the seafloor in a helmet while the guide photographs you underwater; the photos come to you later as digital files.

If the water activities don't appeal, a beach chair waits on the sand (not available Wednesdays). Lunch is served on the island—vegetarian options are available if you ask when you book. The speedboat ride itself is the constant: you wear a life jacket the whole time, sit down while it's moving, and the guide watches for motion sickness or back pain and moves you to the back seat if needed. Insurance is included. The boat returns you to your Pattaya hotel by early afternoon.

A few things to know: jet ski riders must have a guide on board for safety. Parasailing has a 100kg weight limit. Snorkeling means watching for jellyfish and sea urchins—aqua shoes are recommended, and the guide needs to know immediately if you're stung. Banana boat riders should not put their hands through the handles while it's turning. Children up to age four sit on an adult's lap on the speedboat but don't do water activities; from five to seventy, all activities are allowed.
