The boat leaves Bophut pier at a fixed time each morning, and you're on it with maybe a dozen other people instead of fifty. That's the whole difference. You climb the viewpoint path (it takes ten minutes, nothing steep) and the three small islands connected by sandbars spread out below you like a postcard someone actually took, not one someone Photoshopped. The snorkeling happens in the shallows around the rocks, and the coral and small reef fish are there because the group size stays small enough that the guides can actually point things out instead of just herding bodies.

After Nang Yuan you motor across to Koh Tao, where lunch waits — Thai-style, served on the island, nothing fancy but real. The afternoon snorkel is the longer one, the deeper one, where the underwater life gets more interesting.
