The Experience

Sail Rock is considered a world-class dive site and the closest one to Koh Samui — a 50-minute boat ride from the pier. The day starts with hotel pickup around 7am, followed by light breakfast and coffee at the pier before the boat leaves at 8am. You'll complete two dives at the site, where the underwater scenery is spectacular: large schools of fish move through the water, and whale shark sightings happen regularly, though they're not guaranteed. The boat returns to Koh Samui around 2pm, giving you the rest of the afternoon free.

Your professional guide leads both dives and speaks English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian or one of several other languages. All scuba equipment is provided, along with lunch and beverages during the day. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included for selected hotels on the island, and an air-conditioned minivan handles the transport to and from the pier. If you need a vegetarian meal, let the operator know when you book.

Certification is mandatory — you'll need to show your diver card before boarding. If you're not certified, the operator runs a separate Discover Scuba program that teaches the basics in the water.
