You’ll zip across turquoise water to three nearby islands—Koh Khai Nok, Nai, and Nui—for easy snorkeling, swimming with colorful fish, and lazy beach walks. It’s quick to get there from Phuket and everything’s sorted: transfers, gear, even cold drinks at check-in.
The morning air felt sticky as we hopped into the van—Phuket’s streets just waking up. Our driver chatted about the weather (he said it’d be clear), and fifteen minutes later we were at the pier. There’s a little stand with instant coffee and cold water; I grabbed both while our guide, Aom, handed out snorkel masks and cracked a joke about not feeding the fish our breakfast.
The speedboat ride was quick—just enough time to spot flying fish skimming the waves before we pulled up to Koh Khai Nok. The sand here is soft underfoot and almost blindingly white. I waded in; warm water lapped at my ankles. Some folks went straight for snorkeling—there are schools of yellow-striped fish right off the shore, not shy at all if you’ve got bread in your hand. We wandered along the beach, passing a vendor grilling squid skewers (the smell is everywhere), then headed over to Koh Khai Nai for more swimming. The coral’s better around Khai Nui though—Aom pointed out where to jump in for deeper snorkeling. I lost track of time floating above bright reefs until Aom called us back. Back on land by early afternoon, still brushing sand from my shoes.
The speedboat ride takes about 15 minutes each way from Phuket pier.
