The experience

The tour departs Chiang Mai early and travels about 90 minutes by road to Mae Kachan Hot Springs, where you soak in warm mineral water before the main temples. A short 15-minute ride then takes you to a long-neck Mae Kachan village, where you see the brass-ring tradition up close and browse handmade crafts made by the community. The road continues to the White Temple, an all-white contemporary structure designed by artist Chalermchai Kositpipat with intricate glasswork and surreal murals blending Buddhist symbols and modern imagery inside.

After an optional one-hour lunch break, you travel to the Blue Temple, known for vivid blue interiors, golden accents and dragon sculptures at the entrance. The final stop is Hauyplakang Temple, where a nine-tiered pagoda rises with Buddhist statues and carvings on each level. The panoramic views from the top are the trip's high point. The return journey to Chiang Mai follows, with the full day ending around 12 to 13 hours after departure.

An English-speaking guide leads the group throughout, and Spanish-language options are available on certain departures. Temple entrance fees and transport in an air-conditioned vehicle are included. You'll need to bring your own earphones if you want to use the 41-language audio guide accessed by QR code. Arrive at the meeting point on time, as the tour departs promptly and does not wait for late arrivals. If you book hotel pickup, the morning collection is included, but return transfer to your hotel is not.
