The experience

The White Temple (Wat Rong Khun) is the centerpiece: a contemporary Buddhist temple designed by Chalermchai Kositpipat in 1997 that looks unlike any other in Thailand. After lunch at a local restaurant, you move to the Blue Temple, a newer temple still under construction but already striking for its magnificent blue interior and large white Buddha. The final stop is the Black House, the museum and artwork of Thawan Duchanee, a Chiang Rai artist whose work explores darkness in human nature through red and black hues, animal skins, skulls and unsettling sculptures.
