The Experience

You get picked up from your Chiang Mai hotel in the early morning or early afternoon—the choice is yours depending on what else is on your itinerary that day. The drive out takes about 90 minutes through agricultural land, giving you time to settle in before you arrive at the sanctuary. Once there, you'll change into a uniform and meet the team who will walk you through how the elephants live, what they eat (traditional organic herbal supplements are part of their care), and what their behavior tells you about their well-being.

The core of the experience is time spent observing the rescued elephants as they move through the sanctuary grounds. You're not bathing them, riding them, or directing them—you're watching how they interact with each other and their environment the way they would in the wild.
