The experience
The day starts at your hotel in the morning and moves through Dushanbe's center via Rudaki Avenue. The Ismail Somoni Complex opens the tour: an 11.5-meter monument to the founder of Tajik statehood, set inside a 40-meter arch that symbolizes Eastern architecture. The National Library sits within the same complex: a nine-story building that opened in 2012 with 15 reading halls and over 20 departments, built to preserve the cultural heritage of Tajikistan since the original library's founding in 1933.
Next comes the flagpole at State Flag Square, a 165-meter structure listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's highest. The National Museum follows, spread across 22 exhibition halls covering nature, antiquity, the medieval period, modern history, and applied arts across 15,000 square meters. Navruzgoh Park, opened in 2014 on 15 hectares, offers a shift in pace: tree-lined paths, fountains, and a waterfall called Sharshara, a break from the city center despite its proximity to it. The Kohi Navruz teahouse complex, built in 12 halls each styled in a different national tradition, can seat up to 3,200 guests.
The Dushanbe-Plaza observation deck on a 25-story building gives an overview of the city from above. The Istiqlol-Independence Monument, opened in September 2022, stands 121 meters tall with an 8-meter titanium crown at its peak, its height symbolizing Tajikistan's 30 years of independence. Iram Park, established in the 1930s and covering 40 hectares in the north, contains a botanical garden with a glass greenhouse. If time allows, the tour ends at Mehrgan Bazaar, a modern 30,000-square-meter market that opened in 2014.
Private transportation is included throughout the day. Lunch consists of a first or second hot course, tea, bread and salad. A live guide speaks English, Russian or Persian, and all fees and taxes are covered in the price.
