The tour starts at Thousand Island Lake in Shiding District, where the Feitsui Reservoir's catchment area creates a landscape of thousands of islands surrounded by rolling hills. The terrain and climate here make it ideal for growing Wenshan Baozhong tea and other varieties. From there you head to Bagua Tea Plantation, positioned on a hillside where the neat rows of tea plants form the pattern of Eight Trigrams when viewed from above. A sight that gives the plantation its name.
Next is Pinglin Tea Museum, housed in a traditional Hokkien-style quadrangle courtyard building. Inside you'll see harvesting tools, tea sets and samples that trace Taiwan's tea industry from its origins to today. The museum also includes AR exhibits you can interact with to understand Taiwanese tea culture more deeply. After the museum, you move to a local tea shop where the owner introduces you to Taiwanese tea varieties and demonstrates the proper brewing technique to bring out the tea's flavors. You taste different samples and learn what makes each one distinct.
The five-hour tour includes an air-conditioned vehicle and a professional licensed guide who speaks English, Vietnamese or Chinese depending on which option you select.
