The Experience

You arrive in Zurich and have a free afternoon, or you're here for the first time and want to understand the city without booking a guide. This tour gives you the route and the stories—then you decide the pace. After booking, you get a link to access the route on your phone. The itinerary takes you from the Alfred Escher Statue through Lindenhof (a hilltop with views of the Limmat River), past St. Peter's Church with its enormous clock face, and down to the financial pulse of Paradeplatz. Each stop comes with written information, photos and clear directions to the next one, so you're not wandering or guessing.

The tour threads through Zurich's religious and political history. You'll stand in front of Grossmünster with its twin towers and Marc Chagall stained glass windows, then cross to Fraumünster to see more of Chagall's work. You pass Cabaret Voltaire, where the Dada movement was born, and Lenin's House, where the Russian revolutionary lived during exile. The route includes the Wasserkirche along the river, the Ulrich Zwingli Monument, and the Hans Waldmann Statue—each one tied to a figure who shaped the city. You also see the Zurich Opera House with its busts of composers and writers, the Ganymed sculpture, and the Max Bill Pavillon-Skulptur. Roman bath remnants and the Millers' and Bakers' Guild Building round out the stops.

Because there's no live guide, you control when you linger and when you move on. If you want to step inside Fraumünster, that costs CHF 5 extra at the door. The route works on any smartphone with internet, and public transport is nearby if you need it.
