The experience

The day starts with pickup at your Lucerne hotel and heads straight to Rhine Falls, where you board a short boat that takes you close enough to feel the spray of Europe's largest waterfall. From there the van crosses into Germany to reach Lindau, a lakeside town on Lake Constance with narrow streets and a waterfront you explore at your own pace: time to stop for lunch at a local café if you want. The route then swings into Austria to Bregenz, another Lake Constance town with a scenic promenade and historic squares, before heading into Liechtenstein to finish in Vaduz.

Vaduz is the smallest capital on the itinerary: colorful buildings line the streets, Vaduz Castle sits on a hillside above the town (viewed from outside), and the Cathedral of St. Florin stands in the center. The guide points out the blend of old architecture and modern art that fills the city, then the van returns to Lucerne for a hotel drop-off after roughly ten to twelve hours on the road. Wi-Fi runs on board, and the van is air-conditioned.
