The experience
The day starts with pickup from your Lucerne accommodation and heads straight into the Bernese Oberland. Lauterbrunnen is the first stop: a valley floor ringed by waterfalls and near-vertical cliffs that rise thousands of feet. You'll have time to walk the village and stand in front of the cascades before boarding the scenic alpine train that climbs out of the valley toward Wengen. The train itself is the journey: it passes waterfalls, steep rock faces, and switchbacks that open onto views of the Jungfrau massif. Wengen sits at the top, a car-free village of traditional chalets where you can walk among the buildings and take in the panorama before heading down again.
From there the tour moves to Grindelwald, a mountain village surrounded by glaciers and peaks. Lunch happens here, and you'll have time to explore the local shops and streets on your own. The setting is dramatic: the peaks close enough to feel their scale. Interlaken comes next as a short stop for a tasting of Swiss cheese or chocolate, a straightforward moment to try local flavors before the drive back to Lucerne. The whole day runs seven to nine hours from start to finish, ending with drop-off at your hotel.
