The experience
You meet your guide at the winter base in Interlaken, then travel by van up into the Alps to the cable car station. A small mountain cable car carries you to a charming village high above the valley. From there, the sled run begins: a one-hour descent that follows the trail down through forest, across open alpine meadows and past frozen waterfalls, with pauses built in so the group can regroup and take in the surroundings. The sled itself does the work. You steer and brake as you go.
The whole outing runs about three hours from pickup to return. Your guide speaks English or German and stays with the group throughout. Hiking boots are provided so you have grip on the cable car and at the stops. Winter clothes matter (you can rent warm, waterproof gear if you don't have your own), since you're moving fast downhill in the cold night air. The exact sledding location can shift depending on snow conditions, so the operator picks the best run available on the day you go.

Is this one for you?The one-hour sled run is active (you're steering and braking the whole way down), so it suits anyone comfortable with a moderate pace downhill. The cable car and van rides handle the climbing, so the effort is all in the descent itself, not in hiking or exertion before you sled.

Top questions
What languages is the guide in?
Live guide in English and German.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (10 to 15 years). Under 10: they can't be included in the booking.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What's the sled run actually like, is it steep, or more of a gentle slope?
The one-hour descent follows a marked trail through forest and open meadows, with frozen waterfalls as landmarks along the way. The guide leads the pace and builds in stops so everyone can catch their breath and take in the view.
Do I need sledding experience, or is this for beginners too?
No experience is needed. The guide teaches you how to steer and brake before you start, and the run is designed so riders of different abilities can manage it. Children from age 10 onward can go, as long as they're comfortable on a sled.
What happens if there's not enough snow when I book?
The operator shifts the sledding location based on snow conditions to ensure the best run. If conditions make the activity unsafe, they'll reschedule you or offer a refund.
Are warm clothes really necessary, or just recommended?
Necessary. You're moving fast downhill in cold night air at altitude. If you don't have waterproof winter gear, you can rent it on the day. Layers and a good jacket make a real difference in comfort.
Does the three-hour time include the van ride there and back, or just the sledding?
The three hours covers the whole outing: van transport from Interlaken, the cable car ride up, the one-hour sled descent with stops, and the return trip to your pickup point.
