Interlaken Sunset Sledding with Swiss Fondue: Eiger Views
Sled through forest at golden hour, sip mulled wine halfway down, end with fondue
Sunset sledding from Interlaken combines a cable car ride above the Lauterbrunnen valley with an easy downhill sled run through snowy forest, where you'll see the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau turn pink at golden hour. Your local guide shows you how to steer and brake, no experience needed, and picks either Mürren or Isenfluh based on that day's snow. Back in Interlaken, the evening ends indoors with Swiss cheese fondue, bread and a glass of white wine. Groups stay under 8 guests, and the whole experience runs 4 hours from Interlaken pickup to return.

Step-by-step itinerary
Sunset sledding and Swiss fondue
- Ride cable car above Lauterbrunnen valley
- Sled down snowy forest run
- Enjoy hot mulled wine halfway
- Return to Interlaken
- Eat Swiss cheese fondue with wine
The experience
The sled itself is simple: you steer by leaning and brake by dragging your feet, and your guide walks you through both before you push off. The cable car climbs above the Lauterbrunnen valley, and the three peaks (Eiger, Mönch, Jungfrau) fill the view as you rise. Then comes the long, easy run through snowy forest, past wooden chalets and frozen waterfalls. Halfway down, you stop for hot mulled wine (or another warm drink) to thaw before the final glide back to the valley floor.
Where you sled depends on the snow: your guide picks Mürren or Isenfluh each day, whichever has the best conditions. The van from Interlaken carries only your group, 8 guests at most, so there's no waiting for strangers or sharing the ride with a crowd. You'll get a headlamp for the descent, gloves on loan if you need them, and the cable car ticket is included in the price.
Back in town, you sit down to Swiss cheese fondue with bread and sides, plus a glass of white wine or another drink. The light changes with the season and the weather, so the pink on the peaks shifts from week to week: each sunset sledding evening looks different from the last.
