The Experience

“So what’s the Swedish word for ‘cobblestone knees’?” I asked our guide, Erik, after my third time tripping over those lumpy stones in Gamla Stan. I still think about that view over the water near Slussen—gray sky, boats sliding by slow as if they had nowhere else to be.
