The experience

Meet your guide at the Lars Johan Hierta Monument in Riddarhustorget, a memorial to the Swedish journalist who fought for free press. From there, the walk moves through Gamla Stan, Stockholm's Old Town, where your guide unpacks the questions that defined Sweden's war years: what was the country's real role in World War II, how did neutrality actually work, and what happened to Jewish refugees seeking safety. The guide provides the historical context that shifts as the conflict unfolds, showing how Sweden's position changed over time.

As you walk, you'll stand in front of the Royal Palace, Storkyrkan Cathedral, and Parliament House, each one a point where you learn how the Swedish royal family, government and church responded to the war. You'll also discover how the conflict touched the Nobel Prize awards. The Remembrance Path in Berzelii Park carries the story of Raoul Wallenberg, the Swedish diplomat who rescued tens of thousands of people from the Holocaust: one of the tour's central threads.

If you choose the 3-hour option, the Army Museum comes next.
