St Lucia Ziplining: Aerial Tram, Hike & 8 Lines
Eight ziplines, a rainforest hike, and a view from above the canopy
Zipline through the Castries Waterworks Forest Reserve on 8 lines strung across 16 platforms, then experience the same rainforest from the ground on a guided hike and from above on an aerial tram ride. A naturalist guide leads all three sections, explaining the plants and wildlife as you move through the ecosystem. Round-trip transportation from Castries, Marigot Bay hotels, or the cruise port is available when selected at checkout; cruise guests arriving after 9:00 AM can participate but must arrange their own transport. The full experience takes about 4 hours plus travel time.
The Experience
The day starts with transport to the Castries Waterworks Forest Reserve—about 30 minutes from your hotel or cruise port—or you can arrive directly at the park by 8:45 AM if you're making your own way. Your naturalist guide meets you at the entrance and walks you through what's ahead: three completely different angles on the same rainforest. The setup matters because each one reveals something the others don't.
You begin on the Aerial Tram, gliding above the canopy while the guide points out the plants and animals living in the treetops. Then you descend for a guided hike through the forest floor, moving closer to the ecosystem the tram showed you from above. The hike is where you see the detail—the undergrowth, the smaller wildlife, the way the forest layers itself. After that comes the zipline course: 8 lines threaded across 16 platforms that take you right through the middle of the canopy, moving horizontally through the trees instead of above or below them. The three activities run about 4 hours total, and your guide stays with you through all of them, connecting what you're seeing to the rainforest's structure and wildlife.
Walking shoes are mandatory—no sandals, flip-flops or heels—and you'll want long shorts or trousers and a shirt with sleeves. Bring sunscreen and insect repellent; rain can happen, so a light rain jacket helps. The experience operates outdoors and weather permitting, so conditions do affect the day. If you booked transportation, the driver meets you after and takes you back to your hotel or cruise port. Cruise guests arriving after 9:00 AM are welcome but will need to arrange their own transport to and from the park.

Can I do this if I'm arriving on a cruise ship that docks after 9:00 AM?
Yes, you can participate in the zipline and rainforest activities, but round-trip transportation from the cruise port is only offered to ships docking before 9:00 AM. If your ship arrives later, you'll need to arrange your own transport to the Castries Waterworks Forest Reserve and arrive by 8:45 AM for check-in. The park opens at 9:00 AM.
What exactly happens on the zipline course?
The Canopy Zipline Course has 8 zip lines strung across 16 platforms that take you through the treetops. You move horizontally through the forest canopy, seeing the rainforest from a third perspective after experiencing it from above on the tram and from the ground on the hike.
How long does the whole thing take?
The three activities—aerial tram, guided hike, and zipline course—take approximately 4 hours. If you're using transportation, add about 30 minutes each way for the transfer from your hotel or cruise port, depending on traffic and pickup stops.
What do I need to wear and bring?
Closed-toe walking or hiking shoes are mandatory; sandals, flip-flops and high heels are not permitted. Wear comfortable clothing suitable for hiking and ziplining—long shorts or trousers and short- or long-sleeved shirts are recommended. Tie back long hair, bring sunscreen and insect repellent, and consider rain protection since the experience is outdoors in a tropical rainforest.
Is there an age or weight limit?
Participants must be at least 5 years old. The maximum weight is 350 lb (170 kg), and the minimum waist measurement is 18 in, with a maximum waist/hip measurement of 50 in. The experience is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, pregnant travelers, or those with poor cardiovascular health, though it is suitable for all physical fitness levels.
What languages does the guide speak?
Your naturalist guide leads the experience in English, Spanish, or French, depending on your group's needs.
