Ziplining in St Lucia: Aerial Tram, 8 Lines & Rainforest Hike
Rise into the canopy, fly through it, walk beneath it.
Zipline across 8 lines and 16 platforms through the rainforest canopy at Castries Waterworks Forest Reserve in St Lucia, with an aerial tram ride to 2,000 feet and a guided nature trail hike. The activity includes a naturalist guide, park admission and roundtrip transport from your hotel or cruise port (or self-arrival at the park entrance). The whole experience takes around 5 hours and operates rain or shine.
The Experience
The day starts with a scenic 25–30 minute drive into St Lucia's interior, passing through rural communities and mountain scenery on the way to Castries Waterworks Forest Reserve — a national forest since 1916 and part of the Queen's Commonwealth Canopy. Your naturalist guide meets you at the park and stays with you throughout the activity, pointing out tropical plants, birds and wildlife as you move through each section of the rainforest.
The aerial tram lifts you above the treetops toward the canopy at 2,000 feet above sea level, giving you a high vantage of the forest and northern St Lucia before you step onto the zipline platforms. Then comes the core of the activity: 8 zip lines strung across 16 platforms, each one sending you from one side of the canopy to the other. The rush of the forest passing below is the whole point — you are moving fast enough to feel the speed, high enough to see the scale of the rainforest, and suspended in the middle of it.
After the zip lines, you walk guided rainforest trails on the forest floor, surrounded by towering trees and tropical vegetation. This is the third angle on the same forest: from above on the tram, through the canopy on the lines, and beneath the trees on foot. The guide handles the interpretation at each stage, so you move through without stopping to figure out what you are looking at. If you booked transport, the shared van returns you to your hotel or cruise port afterward; if you arranged your own way there, you simply head out when the activity ends.

How does the aerial tram work on this St Lucia zipline activity?
The aerial tram is a gondola that carries you up through the rainforest canopy to 2,000 feet above sea level, giving you views of the forest and northern St Lucia before you move onto the zipline platforms. One naturalist guide rides in each gondola with the guests.
What happens on the zipline course itself?
You zipline across 8 lines strung between 16 platforms, moving from platform to platform through the canopy. The lines are the core of the activity — you feel the speed and the height while the forest rushes past below you.
Do I have to arrange my own transport to the park, or is it included?
Transport is optional at checkout: you can book roundtrip transfer from your hotel or cruise port, arrange your own way there, or self-arrive at the park entrance. If you book a transfer, pickup is shared with other guests and the drive takes 25–30 minutes each way. Cruise guests arriving after 9:00 AM must make their own way to the park.
What should I wear and bring for this activity?
Wear walking or hiking shoes (no heels, sandals or flip-flops), comfortable clothing like long shorts or trousers, and a short- or long-sleeved shirt — skirts and dresses are not recommended for the zipline. Bring sunscreen, insect repellent and sun or rain protection. Long hair must be tied back. Food and drinks are not included.
What is the Castries Waterworks Forest Reserve?
Castries Waterworks Forest Reserve is a national forest in St Lucia that has been protected since 1916 and is part of the Queen's Commonwealth Canopy. The zipline activity, aerial tram and nature trails all operate within this reserve, so your admission is included with the activity.
How long does the whole activity take?
The activity runs about 5 hours total, including the aerial tram ride, all 8 zip lines across the 16 platforms, the guided rainforest hike and check-in time. If you book transport, add 25–30 minutes each way for the drive to and from the park.
