The experience

The day starts at Sulphur Springs Park, where you soak in naturally heated mud rich in minerals: the Caribbean's only drive-in volcano. The mud is meant to treat skin ailments, eczema, sunburns and insect bites. After the soak, you're driven a few seconds to Toraille Waterfall, St. Lucia's most visited waterfall, where a 65-foot cascade of rainforest water lets you rinse off and cool down before moving to the beach.

Sugar Beach, formerly called Jalousie Beach, sits directly between the Pitons. Those two dramatic peaks that define the island's skyline. You snorkel here with provided equipment, staying in the warm Caribbean water while you watch the reef. The tour includes ice-cold drinks at the beach, and afterward you head to a local restaurant for a Creole buffet with salad, root vegetables, chicken, fish, and your choice of potato pie, mac and cheese, or vegetable noodles. Rum punch and beers come with the meal.

The whole experience takes seven hours from pickup to drop-off in an air-conditioned vehicle. A live English-speaking guide leads the group throughout, and children from age two are welcome. Gratuities and any additional drinks ordered at the restaurant are separate.
