The experience
The day begins with pickup from your hotel, then a transfer to Sinharaja Rainforest Reserve. Once at the main entrance, you meet your wildlife tracker: a guide trained to spot and identify the animals moving through the canopy and undergrowth. The forest is one of the few virgin rainforests left in the region, dense with moisture and layered with life. As you walk, the tracker points out what appears: monkeys swinging between branches, snakes coiled on the forest floor, chameleons shifting color on leaves, and the extensive birdlife that fills the canopy. The vegetation itself is part of the draw: a vast range of tropical trees, plants and flowers that make up the reserve's biodiversity.
Partway through the walk, you reach a waterfall where you can swim and cool off. Lunch happens in the forest with views of the reserve around you, and bottled water is available throughout the day. After the tour ends, the crew drives you back to your hotel in the air-conditioned vehicle.
