The experience

The tour starts with pickup from your hotel around 8am and a transfer to Sinharaja Rainforest, one of the last virgin rainforests on Earth. At the main gate you meet your wildlife tracker, who walks with you through the forest pointing out animal sightings along the way. The forest spans just over 11,000 hectares across the wet zone at the southern edge of Sri Lanka's hill country and holds one of the world's highest concentrations of biodiversity: over 130 bird species live here, including 33 found nowhere else in Sri Lanka, alongside purple-faced langur monkeys, giant squirrels, snakes, chameleons and myriads of insects many still unclassified.

The day moves through rainforest trails, a waterfall walk and riverside sections where you can swim and bathe inside the forest. Lunch is included and served during the tour. On the way back to your hotel, you can stop as many times as you want for photos, and you're welcome to add extra stops or locations if something catches your eye. The whole experience runs 8 to 10 hours door-to-door, with an air-conditioned vehicle and professional guide included throughout.
