The experience
Two and a half hours on a bike takes you through two Valencias at once: the green ribbon of the Turia Riverbed Gardens, where fountains and pedestrian paths wind through lush grounds, and the futuristic City of Arts and Sciences, an architectural complex that includes the Hemispherical Museum, Science Museum and Oceanographic, Europe's largest aquarium. The guide shows you the Palace of Music tucked into the gardens and the giant Gulliver Park playground, where the fibreglass figure's ropes and clothes form climbable paths, before you pedal toward the modern skyline to take photos of the cutting-edge structures.
From there the route moves into Valencia's historic center, cycling through narrow streets lined with charming buildings as your guide shares stories about the city's past. You see the Valencia Cathedral, a Gothic and Baroque masterpiece, and stop at Plaza de la Virgen with its Turia Fountain. The Silk Exchange (La Lonja de la Seda), a late-Gothic civil building and UNESCO World Heritage Site, sits near the Central Market, where merchants once worked out contracts. You also pass the Valencia Bullring, the City Hall and its central post office, and end at the Serranos Towers, a 15th-century gate where you can touch the grand walls and look out over the city and mountains beyond.
The tour runs in small groups with an experienced local guide who sets a flexible pace and offers personalized attention. You choose between a standard bike or an e-bike at checkout, and the operator provides bottled water and a bicycle for the full route. Specialized infant seats are available if you're traveling with a young child, and the tour suits all fitness levels. Public transportation options are nearby if you need them before or after.
