If you want to see Valencia’s best sights without missing those hidden corners only locals know, this private bike tour is for you. You’ll ride through lush parks, futuristic architecture, and even dip your toes in the Mediterranean—all with an expert guide who knows every shortcut and story.
The first thing I noticed was the cool breeze coming off the old Turia riverbed as we picked up our bikes near the Serranos Towers. Our guide—Miguel, born and raised in El Carmen—pointed out the faded stonework on the towers and shared how they once guarded the city. You can still see little nicks from cannonballs if you look close. We set off under a sky that was just starting to warm up, weaving past early dog walkers and a couple of locals jogging with their headphones in.
Rolling into the Turia Gardens, it felt like the city opened up. There’s this faint smell of orange blossoms (especially in spring), and you hear kids shouting from the Gulliver playground. Miguel stopped us by a patch of Roman ruins—easy to miss if you’re not paying attention—and told us about the floods that turned this river into a park. We cruised past palm trees, the shiny dome of the Palau de la Música glinting in the sun, and finally reached the City of Arts & Sciences. The white buildings look almost unreal up close, like giant seashells or spaceships. I snapped way too many photos here.
After a quick water break (included, thankfully—it gets hot), we pedaled out toward the coast. The air changed as we got closer to the beach—salty, with a hint of fried churros from a nearby stand. We had time to walk on the sand and watch locals play paddleball before heading back through the Royal Gardens. These gardens used to be part of an actual palace; now they're full of shady spots and fountains where you can cool off for a minute. By the end, my legs were tired but I felt like I’d seen parts of Valencia most visitors miss.
