The experience
The boat leaves Corralejo Port and heads toward Lobos Island, a small volcanic formation about six kilometers across with a crater 70 meters deep. On the way, you pass the Bocaina Canal: a five-kilometer stretch of sea between Fuerteventura and Lanzarote where the water stays under ten meters deep, making it ideal for snorkeling and paddling. From the boat you see the Caldera Volcano and the Great Dunes National Park, a two-and-a-half-by-ten-kilometer coastal zone with white sand dunes on one side and a volcanic red landscape on the other.
Once anchored on the south side of Lobos Island, you get in the water. Snorkeling equipment, a kayak and a stand-up paddle board are all on board and ready to use. You can move between them as you want: some people stay in the water for the whole time, others paddle out and back. The water is transparent enough to see the bottom, and the shallow depth means you can stand up if you need to. Bottled water, coffee and tea are available throughout, and a mini-lunch is served on board.
The tour is private, so the pace and the stops are yours to shape. If you're a sailor, the captain can guide you on improving your technique. Families with small children can bring a pram or stroller to the port, and infants ride on an adult's lap. The guide speaks English, Spanish or Italian depending on your group. After four hours, the boat returns to Corralejo Port.
