Seville: Zahara, Setenil & Ronda White Villages Day Trip
Three villages carved into Andalusian hillsides, one morning departure from Seville
You leave Seville early and visit three White Villages in the mountains of Cádiz: Zahara de la Sierra with its ridge-top castle, Setenil with houses carved into the cliff face, and Ronda with its famous gorge and bridge. Transport, a guide, and lunch are included, and you're back in Seville by evening.

The Experience
The van is already rolling when you settle into your seat — the driver knows the route by heart, and the air conditioning kicks in as Seville's sprawl gives way to the limestone hills of Cádiz province. You're heading toward Zahara de la Sierra first, a village that sits on a ridge like it grew out of the stone itself. The cobbled streets are narrow enough that you'll brush the whitewashed walls as you walk, and the guide points out the castle ruins above town without needing to raise their voice much. It's the kind of place where you can see why people built here centuries ago: the view down the valley stops you mid-step.
Setenil comes next, and this one is different — the houses don't sit on top of the rock, they're carved into it. The cliff face is the roof. You walk under stone that's been there longer than the buildings themselves, and the narrow street runs cool even in the heat. Lunch happens somewhere in this stretch, usually at a local spot where the owner knows the guide, and the food tastes like it was made for people who've just walked uphill. After Setenil, there's still Ronda ahead, the biggest of the three and the one with the gorge running through the middle of town. The bridge — the Puente Nuevo — is the famous one, and the view from it is the kind you'll see in a hundred travel photos before you go, but standing there yourself is still something else.
The whole day trip from Seville runs long — you're out from early morning until evening — but that's what makes it possible to hit all three villages without rushing through any of them. The van is air-conditioned, which matters when you're walking uphill in Andalusian sun, and the guide handles the talking so you can just look. Groups stay small enough that you're not herding through the streets behind a flag. If you've got kids, strollers work on the main streets, and the pace is steady rather than punishing.
