The experience
The Rock of Gibraltar sits at the narrow strait between Europe and Africa, and this tour moves through its history in a single day. Your private guide meets you in Cadiz and drives you across the border in a saloon or minivan reserved for your group alone. Once on the Rock, you visit the Battle siege tunnels first: hand-carved passages that run through the interior with views across the local airport and out toward North Africa. St. Michael's caves come next, a network of chambers where Neanderthal remains were found, then the Ape's den to watch the Barbary apes, the only free-roaming primates in Europe. You'll also see the Moorish castle and reach the top of the Rock itself, where the views stretch to both the Atlantic and the Mediterranean.
The tour runs eight hours total, but the second half is yours to spend. After the guided portion ends, you have free time in Gibraltar's town center to explore the colonial architecture, the fishing village of Catalan Bay, or the duty-free shops. Lunch isn't included, though the town has everything from typical British pubs to local restaurants. Your guide handles all transport and entrance tickets to the upper Rock and its caves. You only need to bring a valid passport or EU national ID card.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and Spanish.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What exactly are the Battle siege tunnels and why are they inside the Rock?
The Battle siege tunnels are a network of passages carved by hand through the interior of Gibraltar during the 18th-century Great Siege. They were dug to give defenders positions and supply routes during the conflict, and they run deep enough that you can see out across the airport and toward North Africa from inside them.
Can I see North Africa from Gibraltar on this tour?
Yes. From the top of the Rock and from within the Battle siege tunnels, you can see across the strait to the African coast. Gibraltar sits at the narrowest point of the passage between Europe and Africa, so the distance is short enough for clear views on a typical day.
Are the Barbary apes dangerous, and will I see them for sure?
The Barbary apes at the Ape's den are accustomed to visitors and are not aggressive, though they are wild animals. Your guide will show you where they gather, but sightings depend on where the group happens to be on any given day.
How much free time do I have in Gibraltar town, and is that enough to eat lunch?
After the guided portion of the tour ends, you have free time in the town center. The length depends on your group's pace during the earlier stops, but there is enough time to explore the shops, visit a pub or restaurant, and walk the colonial streets before heading back to Cadiz.
Do I need a visa to enter Gibraltar from Spain?
EU citizens need a valid national ID card or passport. Non-EU citizens need a passport, any required visas, and proof of Schengen entry. Your guide will brief you on the border crossing before you arrive.
