The Experience

The boat leaves Palma and sails to one of two coves — Cala Vella or Portals Vells — stopping twice along the way. You swim and snorkel at each anchorage, with snorkeling glasses available (a 10€ deposit or ID holds the gear). The water is clear enough that the stops themselves are the point; there's no rushing between landmarks or sitting through a presentation. What makes the day work is the timing: five hours is long enough to reach the coves and spend real time in the water, short enough that you're back in Palma by evening.

Lunch happens on the boat while it's anchored. The barbecue includes chicken breast, chicken skewers and sausages, with green salad, Russian salad, bread and sauces. Cake and watermelon come after. Wine — red, rosé or white from Mallorca — flows during the meal, along with sangría, soft drinks, water and coffee available throughout the whole trip. Children under 7 ride free; those 7 to 14 pay half price. Infants can bring a pram or stroller on board.

The catamaran is a sailing boat, not a motorized tour, so the pace depends on wind and water. Swimming vests and floating equipment are provided. A guide in English or Spanish is with the group the whole time.
