The Experience

The paperwork takes longer than you'd expect. You're filling out health forms at the diving school, reading through liability clauses, and suddenly it hits you that in about an hour you'll be underwater breathing through a regulator for the first time. The staff doesn't rush you — they walk through each question, make sure you understand the equipment, show you how the mask works and what to do if something feels off. It's methodical, which is reassuring and also a bit nerve-wracking, if you're honest.

Once the briefing is done — either online beforehand or right there with the diving professional — you get suited up. The wetsuit, the tank, the weights, the buoyancy vest. It's heavier than you think on land, but that changes the second you're in the water. Your guide leads you into the cove, and the first few minutes are about getting used to breathing underwater, staying calm, letting your body adjust. Then something shifts. The pressure equalizes, your breathing settles into a rhythm, and suddenly you're weightless. You're not swimming — you're floating, moving through a different world. Fish that you've only seen in documentaries are right there, moving past your mask. Plants sway. Light filters down in ways you can't quite explain to someone who hasn't done it.

The underwater walk lasts 30 to 40 minutes, and your guide stays with you the whole time, pointing things out, checking in, making sure you're comfortable. They've done this hundreds of times, so you're not their first nervous diver — they know exactly how to keep you safe and help you actually enjoy it instead of just survive it. When you surface and head back to the diving school, there's a debrief where they explain what you saw, what you did right, what the experience was actually about. It's not just a thrill; it's a skill you've learned.

The whole thing — pickup from your hotel, the instruction, the dive, the return — is arranged for you. You don't book the cove separately or figure out how to get there; the school handles it based on the day's weather and conditions. Small groups mean you're not one of twenty people in the water; it's intimate enough that the guide actually knows your name and your comfort level.

What’s included

Your experience includes private transportation from your hotel to the diving school and back, full SCUBA equipment (wetsuit, tank, regulator, mask, buoyancy vest, and weights), professional instruction and briefing on how to use the equipment, a 30 to 40 minute underwater walk in a cove chosen for that day's conditions, and a debrief explaining what you saw and experienced underwater.

Top questions

Do I need diving experience to do this?

No. This is a dive baptism — your first dive. The professional teaches you everything, from how to breathe underwater to how to move. You get instruction before you go in the water.

How long is the whole experience?

The underwater walk is 30 to 40 minutes. Add time for briefing, equipment setup, travel to the cove, and debrief — plan for a few hours total.

What if I'm nervous about being underwater?

The guide stays with you the entire time and is trained to help first-time divers feel comfortable. You control your pace, and the briefing prepares you for what to expect.

Is pickup included?

Yes. Private transportation to and from the diving school is included.

What's included in the price?

SCUBA equipment (tank, wetsuit, mask, regulator, buoyancy vest, weights) and professional instruction. Hotel pickup is included.

What if the weather is bad?

The diving school chooses the cove based on that day's conditions. You'll dive somewhere safe and suitable.

Can I do this with my family or partner?

Yes. Groups are small, and sharing the experience with someone close to you is part of what makes it memorable.

Are there any health restrictions?

Pregnancy, previous pneumothorax, spinal injuries, and poor cardiovascular health are contraindications. The health form will ask about these.
