The experience
Chulilla sits in the Turia Canyon, a dramatic landscape most Valencia visitors never reach. The day centers on the Hanging Bridges trail: two suspension bridges strung 5 to 15 meters above the canyon floor, with cliffs and natural rock formations framing every step. Your guide, a local who knows the route, leads you through over 100 steps and natural terrain at a relaxed pace. The hike itself takes about 2 hours. You'll see the flora and fauna of the canyon as you move through it, not from a distance.
After the hike, you get free time in Chulilla itself, a whitewashed village built into the mountainside. From May through September, the tour includes a swim in natural pools: the morning departure hikes first then swims, while the afternoon departure reverses the order and ends at sunset in the village. October through April runs a single 9:30 AM departure with more time to wander Chulilla. An air-conditioned vehicle picks you up from Valencia and brings you back. The whole day runs 7 hours.
The route is natural trail, not paved, and the 100+ steps mean you need comfortable hiking shoes and a basic level of fitness. Bring water, a hat and sunscreen on hot days. A swimsuit and towel if you're going in the pools (water shoes help on the rocks but are optional). The bridges are not especially high, though anyone with severe vertigo should know they're open-sided. Groups stay under 8 travelers, or you can book the tour privately for your own group.

What exactly are the Hanging Bridges in Chulilla?
The Hanging Bridges are two suspension bridges suspended 5 to 15 meters above the canyon floor along the main hiking trail. They're open-sided, so you cross them with canyon views on both sides. They're designed to be safe but may feel exposed if you have a fear of heights.
Can I swim in the natural pools on every departure?
Swimming is included only from May through September. Both the 7:30 AM and 3:30 PM departures in those months feature a dip in the pools. The morning departure swims after the hike, while the afternoon departure swims first. From October through April, there is no swimming. The single 9:30 AM departure focuses on the hike and village time instead.
How difficult is the Hanging Bridges hike?
The hike takes about 2 hours at a relaxed pace and is suitable for most travelers with a basic level of fitness. The trail includes over 100 natural steps and uneven terrain, so proper hiking shoes are essential. It's not recommended for people with poor cardiovascular health, severe knee problems, or reduced mobility.
What's included in the price, and what should I bring?
The tour includes accident insurance, a local hiking guide, an air-conditioned vehicle from Valencia, all fees and taxes, and photos. Bring your own packed food, plenty of water, comfortable hiking shoes, a hat and sunscreen. If you're swimming (May–September), bring a swimsuit and towel. Water shoes are optional but helpful on the rocks.
Can I book this as a private tour, or does it have to be a small group?
You can choose between a small group (maximum 8 travelers) or a private tour tailored to your own group. Both options are led by a local guide in English or Spanish and follow the same route and activities.
