The experience

The Riera de Osor is a working ravine in the Guilleries, a region of La Selva, and it carries more water flow than other canyons in the area, which is what makes the jumps, slides and narrow passages feel real and keeps the descent moving. You start by learning rope progression technique in a controlled section, then move into the spectacular parts: emerald water drops, waterfalls you rappel down, vertiginous sliders carved by the current, impressive natural arches and flooded galleries where light plays through the water. The canyon is well-worked by water into tight sections and fun jumps, built for learning and exploration rather than extreme technical climbing.

A professional guide leads the group through the ravine, managing safety and pacing so you move at a steady rhythm. You wear a harness, neoprene suit and helmet throughout. All safety equipment is provided. The three-hour descent includes the time to learn the basics, move through the canyon and get comfortable with the rope work and water obstacles. After you exit the ravine, there's a soft drink, beer and a small snack to recover.

The guide is live and speaks your language (English, Spanish or French), so instruction and safety briefings are clear. Accident insurance is included in the booking. You'll need to bring or wear water shoes that grip on wet rock. The operator does not provide them. A minimum of moderate physical fitness and the ability to swim are required to participate safely.
