Step-by-step itinerary
Boat trip and visit Cadaqués village
- Board boat in Roses
- Cruise along Cap de Creus coastline
- Arrive at Cadaqués
- Explore Cadaqués village for 1.5 to 2 hours
- Visit Santa Maria de Cadaqués church
The experience
You have an afternoon free and a stretch of the Costa Brava to see. The boat leaves from Roses (either the town center or Santa Margarita), and heads south along the rocky Cap de Creus coastline toward Cadaqués. The cruise itself is the route: you watch the cliffs and coves pass from the deck of a 2019 boat built for this run, and the audio guide (available in English, Spanish, Italian, French and three more languages) fills in what you're looking at as you go.
Once you arrive in Cadaqués, you have 1.5 to 2 hours on your own. The village is small enough to walk end to end, and the layout has barely changed since the 16th century: white houses with colored doors and shutters, narrow streets that slope toward the harbor, and the church of Santa Maria de Cadaqués sitting above it all. The church itself took a hundred years to build (16th to 17th century) and holds a baroque altarpiece 76 feet high. The streets hold Art Nouveau buildings from the early 1900s (the Blue House, the Serinyana House, the Pont House) mixed in with older stone. You wander, sit at a waterfront café, or climb toward the Colom Castle ruins if the time and the legs allow. There's no schedule once you're ashore. The boat waits and you come back when you're ready.
The whole outing runs 3 to 4 hours from departure to return. The boat is wheelchair accessible, and service animals are welcome. Public transportation options exist near both departure points if you're not driving to Roses yourself.

Is this one for you?The 1.5 to 2-hour stop gives you enough time to see the village's white streets, the baroque church and the Art Nouveau buildings without feeling rushed, but not so much that you're waiting for the boat to leave. Choose this if you want a half-day outing that mixes sea time with a real village, not a quick photo stop.
