The experience

The sail runs two hours and departs as the light begins to shift. You'll pass Nova Icaria Beach and see the Barcelona Cathedral and Sagrada Família from the Mediterranean, their outlines sharpening as the sky deepens. The boat stays small, no more than 11 aboard, so the deck doesn't crowd and the views stay unobstructed. A professional skipper handles the sail while a live guide narrates in your choice of English, Spanish, French or German.

Three Spanish tapas arrive during the sail: jamón ibérico, tortilla española, manchego with anchovies, served with hummus and bread. The open bar runs throughout, so you pour your own drinks: wine, beer, soft drinks, whatever suits the moment. The combination is deliberate: the food and drink anchor the evening while the boat moves, so you're not sitting still watching the sunset, you're moving through it.

You can book a private boat for your group, a shared catamaran with other travelers, or add live music to the shared option: either a saxophonist or a Spanish guitarist playing as you sail. If you want a full dinner instead of tapas, that's a separate ticketed option. Bring a bathing suit and towel if you plan to jump in the sea.
