The experience
Jeongbang Waterfall is the centerpiece. It's the only waterfall in Korea that flows directly into the sea, and you walk right up to it by climbing over large rocks scattered around the base, feeling the water spray as you approach. The route also takes you to Hallasan National Park for the mountain challenge itself: expect magnificent foliage, awe-inspiring rock formations and the alpine scenery that draws hikers year-round. Your guide knows the best local food in Jeju and can point you toward restaurants serving abalone hot stone pot rice and stone bibimbap.
The itinerary is not fixed. The suggested route includes Mysterious Road (also called Dokkaebi Road locally), where the downward slope of 3 degrees creates an optical illusion that cars appear to roll uphill on neutral; Alive Museum with its trick-eye photo areas; Daepo Jusangjeolli Cliff, a rock formation that looks hand-sculpted; Oedolgae, a giant rock pillar rising from the ocean just outside Seogwipo; and Cheonjiyeon Falls with views of the Jeju Sea. You can replace any of these with Olle Market, Yeomiji Botanical Garden, Teddy Bear Museum or other sites. The guide will adapt the day to what interests you.
Hotel pickup and drop-off are included, along with an air-conditioned vehicle, mineral water and toll gate fees. The guide speaks English, Korean or Chinese. Entrance fees to attractions and lunch are not included in the price, so you pay for those separately and choose where to eat. Children from age 1 are welcome, and the tour is wheelchair accessible throughout.
