The experience
This is a taxi tour built around Jeju's volcanic landscape and the stories embedded in it. You start with pickup at your accommodation, then move through four main stops: Oedolgae Rock, where a legend of waiting and stone speaks to the coastline's history; Cheonjiyeon Waterfall, a 22-meter drop into a plunge pool that feeds directly into Seogwipo Port; the columnar joints at Jusangjeolli Cliff, where hexagonal basalt pillars rise 30 to 40 meters along a kilometer of coast; and the 1100 Road wetland, a 20-minute wooden walkway through lava-formed terrain where lichens, aquatic plants and mountain herbs grow between the rocks. O'Sulloc Tea Museum sits in the middle of the day as a rest point. You walk through the green tea field, take photographs, and have time to sit with tea before moving on.
The driver speaks basic English and knows the region well enough to adjust the itinerary once everyone in the group has said what they want to see. Lunch happens at a restaurant you choose, usually within walking distance of the tea museum. The vehicle is air-conditioned and registered with transportation insurance. The tour runs five to eight hours depending on how long you linger at each stop and which attractions you decide to include. Entry fees to individual sites are separate, and you pay them as you go. Pickup and drop-off happen at the same location (your hotel, airport, port or accommodation), so you don't need to arrange a second transfer.
Wheelchair access is available at Cheonjiyeon Waterfall, where the terrain is flat, and the 1100 Road walkway is designed for all ages. Infants can sit on a lap or ride in a stroller. The tour is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health or pregnancy, though public transportation options exist nearby if you want an alternative.

Top questions
What is Cheonjiyeon Waterfall like when we get there?
Cheonjiyeon Waterfall is 22 meters high and 12 meters wide, flowing into a plunge pool at its base from which water flows directly to Seogwipo Port. The waterfall sits at 25 meters above sea level and is fed year-round by spring water from an upstream stream, so it runs full even in dry seasons. The rock is trachyandesite, and the terrain around it is flat and wheelchair-accessible.
Can we skip any of the stops or add different ones?
Yes. Before the tour departs, you'll meet with the driver to confirm the route, and adjustments can be made once everyone in the group has shared what they want to see. You can add or exclude attractions as you prefer, though entry fees to individual sites are paid separately.
What are the columnar joints and where do we see them?
Columnar joints are hexagonal stone pillars formed when thick lava cooled and contracted rapidly, creating vertical cracks that look like they were carved by hand. The Jusangjeolli Cliff on the Jungmun-Daepo Coast is the largest example in Korea, stretching about 1 kilometer with cliffs 30 to 40 meters high. Waves crash against the pillars, and in rough conditions spray can shoot up more than 20 meters.
How does lunch work on this tour?
Lunch is arranged with you. The driver will recommend restaurants and menus based on your preferences. Most restaurants are within 5 kilometers of O'Sulloc Tea Museum, and you choose where to eat. Food and drinks are not included in the tour price.
Which vehicle size should we book?
The tour operates in regular taxis, jumbo taxis, mini buses and larger group vehicles ranging from 8 to 30 passengers. A regular or jumbo taxi works for small groups; a mini bus seats 8 to 12; larger vehicles accommodate 13 to 30. Pick the size that fits your group, and the driver will be the same English-speaking professional either way.
Do we need to pay entry fees separately?
Yes. Entry fees are not included in the tour price. Cheonjiyeon Waterfall costs 2,000 won (about $2); Yongmeori Coast costs 2,000 won; Sangumburi crater costs 7,000 won (about $5); and Daepo Haean Jusangjeolli Cliff costs about 1.50 dollars. You pay these as you visit each site.
