A hop-on hop-off wine tour through Stellenbosch's Eastern Route stops at five estates (Lanzerac, Neil Ellis, Le Pommier, Zorgvliet and Boschendal) over eight hours, with hotel pickup and drop-off included. You pick your departure time and choose which farms to visit and how long to spend at each. The minivan waits or returns on schedule. Wine tastings at the estates are payable separately.

The experience

Stellenbosch's wine route spreads across farmland east of town, and this hop-on hop-off format lets you build your own itinerary instead of following a fixed schedule. The minivan departs from your Stellenbosch hotel or from the Tourism Information Centre at 47 Church Street, and you control the stops: stay an hour at Boschendal, skip Neil Ellis, spend the afternoon at Lanzerac. The five estates on the Eastern Route are Lanzerac, Neil Ellis, Le Pommier, Zorgvliet and Boschendal. Starting later in the day means fewer estates visited, so an early departure unlocks more ground.

The minivan is air-conditioned and holds small groups. Children travel free with an adult, and infant seats are available if you need one. Your guide speaks English and travels with you, answering questions about the wines and the region as you move between farms. Tastings at each estate cost extra and are your choice. You pay only for what you pour. The tour runs Monday to Friday, and you can pick from five departure times: 10am, 11am, 1pm, 2pm or midday.
