The Experience
A game ranger collects you from your Port Elizabeth hotel and drives you to Kragga Kamma Game Park, a journey of about 15 minutes. Once inside the park, the ranger takes the wheel on a safari route through open grassland and woodland where the animals move freely. You'll watch for rhino, zebra, giraffe and buffalo, along with different species of antelope—the ranger knows where to find them and what they're doing. The vehicle stays air-conditioned as you travel, and bottled water comes with you.
The ranger shares knowledge about the animals and the landscape as the drive unfolds, and you have time to photograph what you see. The pace is set by the wildlife: you stop when something appears, move on when it moves, and the ranger reads the day. A 2 to 3 hour safari gives you enough time to cover ground without rushing, and afterwards you're driven back to your accommodation in Port Elizabeth.
