The experience
The tour starts in Maribor's Lent district, where the architecture and the Drava river frame the old town. The draw here is the oldest vine in the world, still producing grapes after centuries. You'll have free time to explore on your own, grab lunch, or wander the narrow streets before moving on.
Ptuj, Slovenia's oldest town, sits on a hillside crowned by its castle. The castle itself is the main stop. You'll enter and see the grounds and interior that overlook the town below. After Ptuj, the tour heads to the Jeruzalem Wine Region, where you'll taste wines in a local cellar. This is where the wine knowledge comes in. The guide walks you through what you're tasting and why the region matters.
The whole day runs eleven hours from pickup at your hotel. A live guide travels with you in English, Spanish, Italian, French or German, so the commentary is in your language. The pace is set by the fixed itinerary, which means all three stops fit into one day without rushing between them.
