The Experience
The tour starts in Bled and heads toward Postojna Cave, a one-hour drive that gets you to the entrance of the second-largest underground cave system in the world. What sets this cave apart is the train: a small electric railway that runs through the passages and exists nowhere else on earth. You board it and ride through chambers and halls carved by water over millennia, then walk the rest of the route on foot through the illuminated passages. Entry and the train ride are both included, as is a guide who speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French or one additional language.
After the cave, you head to Predjama Castle, situated close by. It's built directly into a cliff face and holds the title of the world's largest cave castle: a medieval fortress that uses the rock itself as part of its structure. You tour the castle and its grounds before the drive back to Bled, where the tour ends.
Infants and small children can bring a pram or stroller. Specialized infant seats are available if needed. The tour suits all fitness levels, though the cave walk involves uneven ground and some stairs. Service animals are welcome.
