An evening stand-up paddleboarding excursion on Most na Soci's Idrijscica Canyon near Bovec, where you paddle by underwater light attached to your board to see the canyon floor and aquatic life after dark. The guide meets you in Bovec, drives you to the water, teaches basic paddling technique, and leads you into the canyon for a break on a beach before returning. The whole outing takes four hours and includes all equipment, a wetsuit, snacks and photos your guide captures.

The experience

You start at the Bovec Paddleboarding base with your guide over coffee, then ride in an air-conditioned vehicle to Most na Soci. Once there, you put on your wetsuit and life jacket, get a safety briefing and learn the fundamentals of SUP paddling. The underwater light fastens to your board. This is what sets the evening apart. As you paddle toward the Idrijscica Canyon, the light illuminates the water below you and the plant and aquatic life on the canyon floor, turning the paddle into something you can't do in daylight.

The canyon itself is remote and quiet. You paddle to the end, then stop on a beach for snacks and a break before heading back to the starting point. After you change out of your gear, the drive back to Bovec gives you time to process what you've just seen. Your guide photographs the tour, so you leave with images of the evening.
