The Experience
Check in at the Mamut office beside Bled's main bus station, where you'll meet your guide and get a short drive to Šobec, the starting point on the Sava. Once there, you'll be fitted with all the rafting gear you need—helmet, life jacket, paddle—and the guide will walk you through safety basics and paddling technique before anyone gets in the boat.
The river splits into two distinct sections. The first part moves through rapids that give the day its pulse and energy; the second stretch calms down, which is where your guide brings out games and lets the pace settle. Throughout, you're moving through pristine nature with the Alps rising around you. The Sava Dolinka itself is one of two sources of the Sava, Europe's longest river, and this section shows why families with younger kids choose it—the rapids are real but manageable, and the calmer water that follows gives everyone a chance to breathe and play.
When the rafting ends, your guide drives the group back to the Mamut office in Bled, so there's no need to arrange a return ride or figure out how to get back from Šobec on your own.
