The Experience

You're picked up directly from the Koper cruise port and driven into the Alpine region below the Julian Alps to reach Bled, a resort town built around a glacial lake. The driver-guide handles the route while you settle in for the journey. Once there, you'll climb to Bled Castle, a 12th-century fortress perched on a steep cliff with views across the lake, the famous island and the surrounding peaks. The castle itself requires a separate entrance fee.

The centerpiece is a traditional Pletna boat ride (wooden boats made by local craftspeople) that takes you out to Bled Island. Standing paddlers propel the boat while you sit, and the island visit involves climbing 99 stone steps. This is the moment most visitors come for, and the boat ride is paid separately. Before leaving Bled, most people grab the local Bled cream cake, a dessert famous across Slovenia, though food is on your own tab.

The tour then continues to Ljubljana, the capital, where you have time to walk the old town on your own. The driver-guide shows you around, but you're free to linger in the squares and streets. The return journey takes you back to the Koper port in time for your ship.
