You enter at 7:15pm or later, ride the tram through seven zones of nocturnal habitats, walk any of four trails at your own pace, and catch one or more animal presentations before the park closes at midnight. Admission and the tram ride are included; if you add private transportation, it picks you up from your hotel and drops you back. No need to arrange your own way there or figure out the entry line — you just show up with your voucher.

The Experience

The moment the sun drops, the park shifts. Lights dim across seven geographical zones, and animals you'd never spot in daylight begin to move. The Night Safari in Singapore opened in 1994 as the world's first nocturnal wildlife park, and it still feels like stepping into a different world — one where elephants, big cats, bats, and Komodo dragons are wide awake while the city sleeps. You're not watching them from behind glass or from a distance; the tram takes you right through their habitats, close enough to hear the sounds, to feel the night air change as you move between zones.

The tram arrives every 15 minutes from the entrance, and you can ride it through the whole park or hop off to walk one of four trails on foot — the choice depends on how much time you want to spend and how deep you want to go. The Creatures of the Night show runs at 7:30pm, 9:00pm, and 10:00pm (Friday, Saturday, and public holiday eves), and it's about 30 minutes of owls, flying squirrels, and other nocturnal animals doing what they do best. There's also a five-minute Twilight Performance at the entrance courtyard at 8:15pm and 9:15pm if you want something shorter. The park stays open until midnight, so you're not rushed — you can take the tram once, walk a trail, catch a show, and still have time to wander.

Families with young kids find it works well because strollers are fine, and children under three get in free. The whole place is wheelchair accessible, and if you've booked a presentation seat, you reserve it through the Mandai Wildlife Group website at least two hours before showtime. The tram ride itself is the spine of the experience — it moves slowly enough that you actually see the animals, not just shapes in the dark. After that, what you do is up to you.
