The boat stops for swimming and snorkeling at Anse Major (a sheltered beach between granitic cliffs on the northwest coast), then motors to the hidden turquoise waters of Anse Du Riz inside the marine park, where you can snorkel again or rest on deck.

The experience

A driver picks you up from your accommodation and takes you to the boat. Once aboard, the skipper and deck hand head north along Mahe's coast. If you want to fish, you can troll or bottom fish for around 30 minutes to an hour and catch your own meal. The boat then reaches Anse Major, a wild isolated beach where the water stays calm and the granitic cliffs rise behind fine white sand. You swim and snorkel here, and the crew prepares a creole BBQ lunch using the fish you caught or their own catch.

After lunch, the boat motors to Anse Du Riz, a hidden beach only reachable by water, and then into Baie Ternay National Park. The turquoise water and powder-white sand invite more snorkeling or swimming. You can also stay on deck and watch the coastline. The whole outing runs about four hours from pickup to return.
