The experience

You arrive in Kigali with a free afternoon or a morning to spare, and a bus tour feels too passive. This tour puts you on a bike instead: a way to move through the city at a pace that lets you actually see it. Day one stays in and around Kigali itself, cycling through neighborhoods and the areas on the city's edges. You're not locked into a van window. You're moving through the rhythm of daily life, stopping when something catches your attention, talking to your guide about what you're passing.

Day two shifts to the countryside and mountain biking around the region outside the city. The route takes you off the main roads, through rural Rwanda where the landscape opens up. Your guide is a local who knows the terrain and the communities along it, and speaks either English or French throughout. The tour is built for mixed fitness levels. There are relaxed options and more challenging routes depending on what you want from the two days. Lunch is included both days.

Hotel pickup is arranged, and children from age 8 can join. The operator emphasizes that this is active travel: you need at least moderate fitness to handle the cycling, and the terrain varies between paved city streets and mountain bike tracks.
