After eating, there's a walk back through Pestera village to the car, about an hour on foot, and if the timing works your guide can show you the local church. The whole day runs full — you're moving, looking, learning — but it doesn't feel rushed. The group stays small, which means the guide can actually talk to you instead of shouting at a crowd.

Bring sturdy, waterproof hiking shoes and warm clothes; the weather in the mountains changes fast and the route can shift if conditions turn.
