The experience
Punta Arena Vieques is the anchor of the day. You board in Fajardo and head out on a boat kept in top condition. The captain and crew have years of experience in these waters and will position you where the turtles are. Once you're in the water with snorkeling gear, you're looking at a reef full of marine life: the operator calls it paradise for a reason, and the water is clear enough to see why. After snorkeling, the boat moves to one of Puerto Rico's best beaches, where the red sand and shallow water are the main event.
The boat is set up for a full day: you get an umbrella planted in the sand, floats to drift on, and music playing while you're anchored. Lunch is a BBQ with chicken, pasta salad and bread. Drinks include beer, rum, sodas, juices and water. Snorkeling gear, fins and a floating mat are all provided. The marine has bathrooms and showers on board, and there's private parking at the departure point if you're driving from Fajardo.
