The Experience

The water in San Juan's bay is so clear you hear the snap of fish jaws before you see them. You wade in from the shore — no boat, no long ride out — and within minutes the reef opens up. A certified guide stays with your group of no more than eight, pointing out the green sea turtles first, then the smaller stuff: blue tangs darting between coral heads, sergeant majors in their striped uniforms, yellow snappers hanging in the current like they're waiting for something. The guide knows which fish are which and talks about them as you float, making it less like a tour and more like someone showing you their neighborhood.

Morning is the real time to go — the fish are awake and moving, and the light cuts through the water so clean you don't need much visibility to feel like you're somewhere else. The snorkeling equipment is provided, and you get a USCG-approved life jacket, which matters if you're not a strong swimmer or just want the peace of mind. Bottled water is there when you come out, and a certified instructor is in the water with you the whole time, not just checking in from the boat. Groups stay small on purpose — it's not a cattle operation — so the guide can actually see what you're seeing and point out the rarer stuff when it shows up: squids, seahorses, rays, even manatees if you're lucky.

The whole thing wraps up with a video of your snorkeling session, complimentary, so you've got something to show people who didn't believe you about the turtles. It's beginner-friendly — the bay is shallow and the guide is patient — but it's also real snorkeling, not a swimming pool with fish. You're in the actual reef, and the animals are doing their actual thing.

What’s included

Snorkeling equipment, USCG-approved life jacket, bottled water, certified guide instructor, and a complimentary video of your snorkeling session are all included. You start from the shore, so no boat transfer is needed.

Is this one for you?Right for snorkelers of any skill level who want to see sea turtles without a boat ride and prefer a small group where the guide actually knows your name. The shore entry means you're in the water fast, and the morning timing is what keeps the reef active and the visibility sharp.
