The experience

You meet at Black Eagle Beach in Rincon and start on the sand, where the guide spends 5–10 minutes going over safety and the fundamentals of snorkeling. All gear is provided. Once you're in the water, the guide keeps you in waist-deep water (3 feet) at first so you can get used to the equipment and practice basic skills without any pressure. This is where most people find their rhythm and stop thinking about the mask and start looking around.

When you're ready, the guide takes you out to the reef itself. Tres Palmas is a working marine reserve, so the fish and coral are still there. You'll see tropical species and usually sea turtles moving through. The guide points out what's worth watching and captures video and photos as you go, so you leave with footage of the moment instead of just the memory of it. The whole thing runs about 90 minutes from start to finish.

The guide speaks English or Spanish, and kids as young as 6 can join. No swimming experience or prior snorkeling is required. The setup is designed so you learn in the shallows and only move deeper once you're comfortable. All fitness levels work here.
